Stuart Ford's AGC Studios Unveils Executive Lineup
IM Global alums follow Ford to his new production and sales outfit, which launched last month.
AGC Studios, the new production and international sales outfit launched by IM Global founder Stuart Ford last month, has boosted its executive ranks with a number of familiar faces.
Former IM Global execs Michael Rothstein, Bonnie Voland, Wifreddy Chaing, Cristina Garza, Glendon Palmer, David Schulhof, Jed DeMoss, Callum Grant and Samuel Hall.are all joining Ford at AGC.
The executive line up join Oscar-winning producer Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker, Detroit), who on Monday took over as AGC's new head of film, overseeing the company's development and production slate, a job he previously held at IM Global.
Rothstein will oversee the new studio's worldwide sales as president of worldwide distribution. He was previously president of international sales and distribution at IM Global and, before that, president of international sales at The Weinstein Company.
Voland, marketing and publicity head at IM Global for more than a decade, will take over a similar role at AGC as head of worldwide marketing and publicity. Chiang was named SVP of finance and operations, having served in a similar capacity at IM Global.
Garza will be AGC's new head of Latino content, overseeing development and production of film and TV content targeting a multicultural audience. Garza was previously managing director of IM Global's Latino sales and production subsidiary Mundial and before that head of distribution at Mexican producer/distributor Canana.
Palmer takes on the job of SVP and head of urban content at AGC. He was SVP of development and production at IM Global, joining the group from Overbrook Entertainment.
Schulhof will head up music-driven film and TV content, as well as AGC's music publishing operations as the group's new head of music. He was previously president of IM Global Music. DeMoss assumes the role of creative executive at AGC Shapiro at IM Global.
Jed DeMoss, who had previously reported to Shapiro at IM Global, takes over as a creative executive at AGC.
AGC Studios on Thursday also announced the opening of their London office, to be run by Callum Grant as new SVP of European Acquisitions and Sales. Grant was previously VP of international aales and acquisitions for IM Global. Samuel Hall joins Grant in London as manager of European acquisitions and sales, having performed a similar role at IM Global.
Among all the IM Global alums, AGC has added one fresh face: Zach Garrett, a former acquisitions exec at EuropaCorp, Broad Green and eOne Entertainment, takes over as vp of acquisitions at the new studio, based out of L.A.
“AGC Studios is tremendously fortunate to have such an armada of proven executive talent joining us from the very outset of our new company,” Ford said in a statement. “This is a unit of longtime colleagues who are well known throughout the industry and with a team ethic that stretches back for more than a decade. Together we hope to hit the ground running and get AGC’s business off to an impressive start.”
Ford is wasting no time in building up his new enterprise, launched after he was pushed out of IM Global last August by Donald Tang, whose Tang Media Partners took a majority stake in the indie film group back in 2016. Tang merged IM Global with U.S. distributor Open Road to form Global Road, which former Summit CEO Rob Friedman is running.
AGC said he hopes to announce its initial film slate in the next few months and is “actively assembling” a team to run its television business.
