Naturally, Granat has lots of stories to share about Dimension’s horror output during that time, including Mimic, a nightmare production for Guillermo del Toro. Granat also talks about the Scream and Halloween franchises during the interview, while perhaps most notably dropping an interesting bit about the Rod Serling estate. Serling, of course, was the mastermind behind “The Twilight Zone,” and Granat told Gingold that the biggest disappointment during his tenure with Dimension was in regards to Serling’s estate. “The biggest disappointment was, we came very close to getting rights to the Rod Serling estate, and doing a series of films based on some unproduced material he had written. That would be the number-one regret,” Granat recalled. During the 1950s, Rod Serling had written many scripts, some of which were never produced for either radio or television. A treasure trove of still-untapped material, to say the least.
